Dr. Daniel Carl Brown

Dr. Daniel Carl Brown, Ph.D.

Dr-Dan-Brown

Dan Brown is currently the Systems Director for Certified Staff with the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. Dan’s deepest desire is to help people find success in their work and in their lives. He engages students, teachers, administrators, and support staff to find value in their roles and inspires them to a deeper understanding of how their work makes a difference in the overall purpose of the organization. Dan is focused, a team builder, and a “possibility” thinker. He brings creative solutions to big questions, conflict resolution, and problem-solving to the Organizational Development Division.

Dan Brown’s professional life has been focused on educating children and guiding teachers and leaders to be effective in their roles.  He graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. After teaching for 14 years, he completed a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. He has served in positions such as dean of students and middle school and high school principal. He and his wife, Amy, moved from Michigan to Arizona for Dan to accept a middle school principal’s position. He later served as the same school district’s superintendent. Prior to joining the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind in August of 2014, Dan spent four years working at the Arizona Department of Education as the Deputy Associate Superintendent of School Improvement and Intervention, and later took on the additional responsibilities of State Director for Career and Technical Education.  In the summer of 2018, Dan became a certified trainer in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. He is also certified through Mindfulness First (mindfulnessfirst.org); a practice/curriculum based course focused on a sense of calm for communities and classrooms.

Dan is an ordained metaphysical minister, having received his ordination and practitioner diploma from the International Metaphysical Ministry University Seminary. Dan received a second bachelors and master’s degree in Metaphysical Science, from the University of Metaphysics. Through the coursework to be certified in mindfulness practice Dan gained an even greater interest in what being mindful means in measuring your effective/affective purpose in life. He wrote is master’s thesis on mindfulness (available through the university). Dan continued with the University of Sedona and earned his Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D., specializing in metaphysical counseling, in April of 2020. Dr. Brown’s dissertation supports that there is a significant connection between leadership and spirituality through the practice of mindfulness (doctoral dissertation available through the university).
