“Looking Back… Into the Future”

As life for every soul unfolds until it becomes one with conscious Awareness, the surface part of the mind waits in anticipation of what the future will be. Will there be improvements in finances, love, health, happiness? Or will things continue as they have been or—God forbid—will they worsen?

Many decades ago, a song that was popular had lyrics that went, “Whatever will be, will be / The future’s not ours to see / Que será, será.” The lyrics maintained that what will be—will be, suggesting that one had little power of what will be. Of course, this flies in the face of the personal human ego, which, to justify its existence, asserts that it does have the power, in and of itself, to mold or shape the future.

“A Universally Conscious Mind”

St. Paul once proclaimed, “Let this Mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

Richard Maurice Bucke had this experience, and in his now classic book titled Cosmic Consciousness, he writes about some of the many people through the ages whom he believed had also experienced Cosmic or Universal Consciousness.

In recent years, through advancement in communications, there has been a surge of both hard copy books and eBooks speaking on the subject, but most who speak or write on the subject are commentators or observers that have not themselves had such an awakening.

“Real Magic versus Ego Illusionary Magic”

Can people really materialize their needs through spiritual practices? So very many people over the past 100 years have been attracted to Metaphysical New Thought by the lure of what they personally can acquire. Certainly there are human needs of a roof overhead, food on the table, clothes on one’s back, and other basic necessities. It is then certainly understandable that a person would be attracted to a philosophical theology that offers promise or hope that a person can meet his or her basic needs, and yes, be a prosperous person materially. And, all this is in direct contrast to more fundamentalist religion that has either directly or indirectly suggested to followers that being prosperous is somehow sinful or not being religious.

“Decision Making: Who Makes the Decisions?”

How life turns out—or how it is going for anyone—is based on what decisions one has made, to one’s betterment or detriment.

When a soul is born into this physical earthly dimension, with but few exceptions, he or she incarnates with a false sense of identity—the personal ego. As they grow to adulthood, the limited sense of awareness of other personal egos surrounding them reinforces the illusion that they are but personal ego identities.

From schoolyard adolescence to the adult environments of human life in this earthly dimension, the personal ego identity is accepted as being the decision maker in one’s life. The personal ego becomes involved in a personal learning process based on what one’s parents believe and then expands into the beliefs of educators, politicians, scientists, and, for the majority, religions. The personal ego builds what it knows about life and how to live it based on a composite from all these sources of what is and what is not.
