Dr. Balram Persaud-Budhu, D.Phil.

He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kailash Yaatra Ashram, an international humanitarian and educational organization established to promote consciousness education, humanitarian service, interfaith dialogue, environmental stewardship, and community development. Recognizing the need for greater interdisciplinary research into consciousness and human flourishing, he also founded the Vilayam Institute for Consciousness and Humanitarian Science, an institution dedicated to research, education, public engagement, and the advancement of knowledge relating to consciousness studies, preventive human development, psychology, philosophy, and humanitarian science. He is further the Founder of Shri Mahākālī Vilayam Dhām, a center for contemplative practice, spiritual education, ethical living, and community service that integrates traditional wisdom with practical humanitarian action.

Dr. Persaud-Budhu’s academic formation combines formal university education with decades of disciplined independent scholarship. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) in Metaphysical Science from the University of Sedona and previously completed undergraduate and graduate studies in Metaphysical Science from the University of Metaphysics. His continuing education includes meditation, comparative religion, holistic health, Ayurveda, consciousness studies, philosophy, and human behavior. This interdisciplinary background has enabled him to examine questions of consciousness and human development from multiple complementary perspectives while maintaining a commitment to scholarly inquiry, ethical practice, and lifelong learning.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Persaud-Budhu has served as an educator, counselor, mentor, lecturer, and humanitarian leader. As an ordained Hindu priest, he has conducted religious ceremonies, educational programmes, rites of passage, public lectures, and interfaith initiatives while working with individuals, families, educational institutions, and communities from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. His professional philosophy emphasizes compassion, personal responsibility, ethical leadership, and the practical application of knowledge for the benefit of society.

A central focus of his scholarly work has been the systematic study of consciousness and the underlying processes that influence human development before significant psychological, behavioral, relational, and spiritual challenges become fully manifest. Drawing upon years of observation, research, teaching, reflective practice, and interdisciplinary study, he developed the Vilayam Framework, an evolving conceptual model that explores the relationships among consciousness, human behavior, environmental influences, contemplative disciplines, resilience, and personal transformation. Dr. Persaud-Budhu has authored numerous books, research manuscripts, educational resources, and public lectures addressing topics including consciousness studies, human development, preventive mental health, philosophy, environmental responsibility, ethics, spirituality, and humanitarian service. He continues to develop scholarly works that contribute to the growing international dialogue on consciousness and interdisciplinary human development.
