“Is It Love or Fantasy?”

St. Paul once commented that the greatest thing is love. He was expressing life’s greatest truism, for love is the most wonderful of all of life’s experiences. Indeed, even if a person had total wisdom, the conclusion derived from all that knowledge would be that of all things in life, love is the most important.

This is so, for in love we find the foremost of all Universal Truths—that there is but One Life in this Universe, and all manifestations are bonded or in union with the One Life that is God. Love is the experience of unity, and therefore, Universal Unity is Universal Love. This is why we can draw the conclusion, quite comfortably, that God is Love.

“The Power of Spiritual Concentration”

In today’s complex world, more than ever before, so much is competing for one’s attention. It is increasingly easier to become distracted from whatever it is that a person attempts to improve or accomplish in one’s life. People living in contemporary society simply have much more to do and be responsible for than did previous generations.

There may be less to do in regard to physical work, perhaps because of the high-tech age into which the world has moved, but this has been replaced with work requiring our mental attention or concentration. Our daily lifestyle requires a state of mind that can maintain concentration on appropriate priorities, if we are to remain on track as to what is expected of us by others and, most importantly, what we expect of ourselves.

For many of us, maintaining any consistent degree of concentration is difficult due to the demands which we may be facing in our daily lives. Thus, attempting to maintain concentration may, in itself, become a source of stress, as we struggle with our minds to keep them focused on the business at hand. Such stress is even more pronounced if a person is functioning on a purely intellectual level in life, without the support and relief that the spiritual presence of God within a person’s mind can provide to the more surface levels that are attempting to maintain concentration.

“All-Channel Living”

The majority of people live limited lives because of limitations they place upon themselves. Although many would argue that life has struck them cruel blows and that is why their options are limited, others can be found who have risen above such conditions to have fuller and more complete lives. It is therefore not so much our circumstances that limit us, but it is rather the reactions of our mind to such conditions, based upon the state of consciousness that dominates our thinking.

Limitations about oneself and one’s life are generally caused by a comprehension of oneself that is born of and exists on an intellectual level of self-comprehension. Intellect, by its very nature, is limited in what it can know, comprehend and correctly evaluate. In essence, people see themselves only at the limited level of understanding of the intellect.

“Today’s Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry in Contrast with an Enlightened Society”

Except for a few souls in this world who are mystically aware, the practice of psychology and psychiatry will not create a truly mentally healthy society.  As it currently stands, the world standard for mental health is collective neurosis.  The occupation of the clinical psychologist and psychiatrist is to adjust the mind to be functional in a dysfunctional society.  In other words, what is called mental health is the ability to function within that which is collectively dysfunctional.  The illusions of one’s personal isolation must be made to fit into the illusions and trends of whatever is considered reality in present-day society.

The basis of identity as viewed by clinical psychology and psychiatry is that the self—one’s identity—is that of a personal ego identity. That is, it’s a product of an organism bumping up against its environment through a long period of time—first to form a simple awareness of itself, and eventually to evolve into an environmentally created identity or ego.  Put enough egos together and you form an ego society.  For whatever reason, if one ego cannot function within the collective ego society in which it dwells, it is then considered dysfunctional, and the role of the mental health clinician is to adjust it—to get it back into step with the collective thinking or the neurosis of today’s ego society.
