Dr. Richard P. Caldwell, D.Min.

 

Dr. Richard P. (Dick) Caldwell is an ordained minister who loves to share the joy and happiness of two people who want to commit their lives to each other. Under the name South Texas Weddings, he performs personalized wedding ceremonies and does pre-marital counseling and couples counseling within a 125-mile radius of Victoria, Texas. He confers with the couple to determine what they want, how much of the ceremony they want to participate in, if they will write their own vows, or if they have a special poem, quote or song they want incorporated into the service.  He offers suggestions to find out what can be done to make both of them completely comfortable. Their personalized ceremony can be as religious or non-religious as they want.

To accomplish this, Dr. Caldwell sends the couple his Starting Point Ceremony with various options that the couple can look over and make any changes, additions or elections that they
want. He lovingly provides many choices, and the actual wedding consists of the specific choices they make and nothing else. Any word, line, paragraph or section can be modified in any way that they like. His philosophy is: Your Day – Your Way!

In his office, where he meets with the couples, is a framed paper that reads: “Dr. Caldwell’s Rules For Getting Married.” They are: 

    #1. There is no right or wrong way to get married. 

    #2. A wedding is about the bride and groom, not about the minister – or the  family. 

    #3. Only love is spoken here.
